Air Guitar Lifts Off In Vancouver
What an amazing night at the Lamplighter this past weekend in Vancouver. The place was jammed and we were graced with 12 performances from performers ranging from hard core shredders down to straight up ROCK STARS. We were fortunuate to have representatives from both Air Guitar Canada as well as our friends from Air Guitar France on board to help with the judging and they certainly had their work cut our for them. The competition was tight and the scores even tighter. When it came down to the winner, there was one that rose above the rest. Once again, JOHNNY UTAH stunned the audience with his mixture of guitar wizardry and acrobatic energy. Good on ya Utah, we’ll see you in Toronto for the Canadian Finals!

CALLING ALL AIR-HEADS
It’s like Six String Nation without the strings or the Canada, but thanks to the promotional needs of the film industry, you too can profit from the release of Air Guitar Nation.
The film follows contestants through the first ever US Air Guitar Championships and onward to the World Championships in Finland. To get the word out, Maple Pictures is looking for a couple of over-the-top Air Guitar Gods to practice their craft at select intersections, events, screenings and pub nights across this great city of Toronto. You can even demonstrate your superior rocking skills at Canadian Music Week.
To be cast as air guitar god(dess), you:
- Can be either male or female or anything in between.
- Will be experienced in the wholehearted strumming of nothing
- Will be available between March 5th and 16th, as duty calls
- Cannot belong to ACTRA
- It’s not stated explicitly, but we think it self-evident that air-keytarists need not apply.
Accompanied by a boom box and decked out in “full Air Guitar garb,” you will then pretend-pick, gyrate, and high kick your way to local celebrity status, prompting all who behold you to exclaim, “Hey, there’s that Air Guitar chick and/or dude again!”
Can you already taste the airy local fame? If so, contact Jennifer Rashwan at Maple Pictures (jrashwan at maplepictures dot com). Auditions will be held as soon as possible.
